2021 Navy League Sunday
Sunday, April 25 · Saint Mark the Evangelist We are pleased to welcome Commander Paolo J. Singh, Commanding Officer, Navy Talent Acquisition Group Heartland, as our speaker for Navy League Sunday. Commander Singh hails from Riverside, California and is a 2003 graduate of the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics. Following commissioning, CDR Singh reported to Pensacola, Florida for flight training. He earned his Naval Aviator wings-of-gold in 2006 and was selected to train as an F/A-18C Hornet pilot with Marine Strike Fighter Training Squadron-101 in Miramar, California. Most recently, Singh served as strategic planner and interagency liaison for the Transregional Threats Coordination Cell (T2C2) with the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Washington, D.C. Additionally, he served as the executive assistant for two deputy directors of T2C2. Commander Singh has accumulated over 2,200 tactical flight hours in the F/A-18 A-F Hornet and Super Hornet aircraft, including over 400 successful carrier arrested landings. His personal decorations, campaign, and unit awards (including two recruiting Gold Wreaths) are a testament to the efforts of the outstanding Sailors and Civilians he has had the honor to serve with. There will be limited space for in-person attendees, and the service will also be livestreamed on our Facebook page at: facebook.com/marinerschurchofdetroit (Please note that you do not need a Facebook account to view the service) To assist with our social distancing procedures (more on this below) we ask that you arrive for this service no earlier than 2:30 p.m., and when you arrive, please enter through the east doors on the south side (Windsor Tunnel side) of the building, stop at the Welcome Table to get your parking validation, and proceed directly into the nave, as we will not be congregating on the office level. Also note that this year we ask attendees to depart immediately after the service, as there will be no refreshments offered as a result of the pandemic. Our capacity for this service will be roughly 70 people in the Nave, to ensure adequate space for social distancing. In light of this, this year the service will also be livestreamed on our Facebook page, as mentioned above. Please also be aware of the following procedures:
Free Parking is in the Ford Auditorium Underground Garage. The entrance to the garage is in the median strip of Jefferson at Woodward Avenue. The garage is open for parking on the first level. The -garage full- sign references the second level in the garage, which is closed. Directions for parking may be found at visitmariners.org. Please bring your parking ticket with you to the Welcome Table to receive your parking validation sticker. The most convenient pedestrian exit from the garage is the southeast door leading directly to the entrance on the Tunnel side of the Church. While this years- service will be very different in how we gather, we believe it is very important to continue this tradition, and to make participation available to as many people as possible by offering it both in-person and online. Please check our Covid-19 update page the day before the service at marinerschurchofdetroit.org/blog/covid-19 for any possible changes.
